36 WEEKS

Great news of progress!!!

Just before christmas I began experiencing Braxton Hicks Contractions, basically this means practice contractions.

Today I had a doctors appointment and we did quite a bit of things.
First you pee in a cup... again.
Second they weighed me, 166-172 (Holy Cow!)
Next the nurse checked my blood pressure twice because the first time it appeared to high or low. Next I sat and waited.

Finally Dr. Savage came in and asked some questions and I told her of my contractions and other changes in my body.
We then listened to the baby's heart beat, 129-130. I asked her what heart rate is dangerous and she said we would be concerned if it goes below 120.
Next she measured my abdomen which was 36 cm.

The new things we did today consisted of a regular check and a test. The Group B Strep test is basically a quick swab, easy, painless. We will get the results later.
The check was to see how far dilated i am.
Our baby girl is still head down.
Dilation 1 CM (of about 4)
Effacement 70% (of 100%)

The big day is around the corner!!!

This is what's happening this week..

Your baby is gaining about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy hair that covered her body, as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Next week, your baby will be considered full-term. Most likely she's in a head-down position, but if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an external cephalic version, where she'll try to turn your baby by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.
